BSU Black History Month Winners

The 完美体育官网 Black Student Union recently hosted an essay contest for local high school students in celebration of Black History Month

The essay prompt was 鈥淒iscuss the effects of education upon modifying long standing stereotypical beliefs and behaviors toward minority groups.鈥

Essay contest winners are, from left: second place, 鈥淓ducation isn鈥檛 as deep as it should be nowadays鈥 by Esther Pope of Graceville High School; first place, 鈥淓ducation in the black community鈥 by Aniya Lewis of Graceville High School; third place, 鈥淓liminating Longstanding Stereotypes鈥 by Lauren Jackson of Graceville High School.

Soren Eastwood of Blountstown High School submitted an original poem called, 鈥淐olor of my Skin.鈥 In honor of her exceptional work, the judges created the 鈥淪oren Eastwood Extra Mile Award.鈥 Eastwood will receive a trophy, certificate and participation certificate.
